I've added a few additional components to my main stereo system. I got a Pioneer M-25 power amplifier, SugarCube SC-1, Pioneer RT-2044 open-reel deck, and, most recently, a Sony DTC-1000ES DAT recorder.

The Sony DAT deck will be slotted into my system during the holidays. Got it for $100 less than a week ago.

Thanks, Chris. The SC-1 is my favourite new component. For much of my vinyl, the default setting of 5 is enough processing to clean up clicks and pops. I have used it for the first time in the mastering of my latest mix tape project. Since getting it, I have been using it mostly for playback of my vinyl. But now, I have it patched into my dbx 400X Programme Router, so I can use it in the recording loop. Curiousity got me and I began monitoring in the Click Monitor mode and some faint clicks from a high resolution digital file that I had downloaded were there. So, I use it for all sources - analog and digital.

    Nando.

Nando nice I would love to hear one and hopefully next time I am at Munich High End show I’ll get to try one, but I don’t think it would be something I would ever buy.
Me i would put the money towards a new better phonostage, I fancy the the Zanden Model 120 to replace my Rega Ios.

I moved house not so long ago and have been trying to set up my system again. On move in I just plonked everything down while I unpacked, the system sounded terrible. I have since been working on room treatment and things are much improved. I still have more to do, the front wall could do with more treatment but this will do for now. I have use a combination of DIY and GIK Acoustics diffusers / absorbers. I had them use one of my pics to make me an arts panel for the absorber.

I also designed and had CNC’s the tape rack, it came out well.

See pics from start to now.

Wow, I'd love to hear that, what tape deck do you use? I would have melted in that chair last night after my work day last night, luckily I get to do it again today.

As soon as I saw the chair I thought of this classic advert

p.s The sound absorbers in the second photo actually look like modern art.

Longman ha ha except I don’t have the butler to bring me the cassette.

Yes the diffusers / absorbers are not bad looking, they do do others called the impression series. The impression series are firstly designed to look good but the patterns are not calculated, I wanted something that is calculated to diffuse in a predicted way as opposed to random so I went for the alpha series.

Thanks 19lexicon78 those JBL speakers in that vid are just mental, way too big for that room it’s used in. It would totally over power that room.

You probably could recreate the Maxell advert using those speakers.
    Either that or this

    @Longman
good speakers don't need high volume. they need less, because it's sound it's so good you hear every detail.
it's bad and cheap audio why you need the volume up..
    stupid, isn't it

Yes 19lexicon78 less is more, I certainly don’t need loud volume on my system.

that's the beauty of high end, you need less volume, because detail is perfect.

once upon a time you had those 4345 for a couple of 1000. these days it's nutss
but, seeing your TT. perhaps you can order some kendrick 4345.. ;)
if you want really go nuts, go for a mbl 101 mk2 with boulder amps.. that would be my setup. ;)
it's only the pre-amp i'm not sure about. i think the sonosax sx-es series is the best pre-amp there is.https://www.sonosax.ch/product/sx-es64-es84/

oja, also love the pioneer exclusive 2402 series. but i do think they miss a speaker, they miss some range. vocals are better, but overall the jbl 4345 sound better. it's more balanced

19lexicon78 i am happy with what I have, I would like to change my speakers at some point to the Peak Consult Incognito 20th anniversary which are the next one up from my speakers and it’s the one I wanted in the first place. But at £17000 they will have to wait for now.

17k you have alot of choice
i would buy 2nd hand and when you don't like the sound sell the speaker with profit.
never buy new, unless it's price goes up.
    for 17k you have mbl 101 mk2 2nd, i know it's takes time.
if you don't like the sound sell them for more...
iow, buy speakers for less, listen to them and sell them for more.
take your audio journey for free $$$
you have a nice TT, so that's a start. now it's the speakers.

I don't like second hand, i like new. I don't change often hence i always do my home work so i get things right in the first place.

MBL's are okay but not the sound for me plus they are too big for my room.

    ok, each choose their way.

    to me
2nd hand creates great opportunity for buying selling to next level, which i couldn't buy before.
when buying new you always lose $$ and never can't gear up, unless you make money with other means. than it doesn't matter
but if not.. it's the only way to gear up

    ahhh, the mbl are godddd
cheaper mbl setup. my telefunken m15 sounds better.. let alone using mbl 101 mk2 speakers..
