I wonder how many of the ladies putting copies of The Beatles Hard Days Night into sleeves were actually Beatles fans.
    I suspect not many.

Wow, no wonder some have finger-print smudges on them!

today i received a pocket pattern-generator for my portable tv's. it's named SADELTA, wich seems to be a spanish company (never heard of them before), looks like they're into two-way-radios/measuring equipment and stuff like that. lovely little thing, came with a sweet pouch, works on a 9v recheargable and features several different test patterns in b/w and PAL, a tv-modulator adjustable, VHF from ch. 5 to 12 and UHF from ch. 21 to 32., besides those different patterns it also modulates a test-tone 1 kHz on some of them.
lovely little gimmick from an almost lost technology:

(...apologize the lousy pics, the unit works perfect, this is just because of the 50Hz ratio...), check the size, compared to a Cloneman:

the 8800 is the same auto but as stated only the 9800 is dual mono which means 2 full amp sets instead of one with dual power supplies lad

I started buying shortwave radios back in the late 1970s when they were one of the the most hi-tech item a teenager could afford, even if my first was a BC348 set as used in Flying Fortresses.

I bought the silver Sony ICF-SW7600GR in the photo on eBay about ten years ago.

In August at Hamfest I bought the black ICF-SW7600G for a bargain price as it was labelled as spares or repair. It turned out the required repair was trivial. A flex cable connecting the two internal boards was coming out of its connector, possibly because it gets folded over and routed right next to the loudspeaker.
When I seated it fully back into the connector it started working.

Comparing the two radios I am surprised how different they are. I had imagined the GR to simply be a G painted silver with a different keypad. However, with the possible exception of the kickstand every single part is different, even the battery cover. Only Sony knows why.

Next in the repair list is an analogue tuned 7601 I bought recently.
Or is it the Philips oscilloscope whose PSU is under the desk here.
Or the B&O radio cassette ?
Or should I just go on eBay and buy something else :wink2

Good luck! I don't mind the crusty ones, they can be fun to work on.

I'm a huge fan of the big three-piece JVC's with the removeable handle, I'm close to having most of them, just need to find more room cuz they're huge!

a Sony TC-124CS moved in today. this was Sony's first stereo cassette corder (this is what the web says...). release-date somewhen between 1969 and 1971.
not tested yet, i have to find the right powercord first...
