Cool! You cannot say you haven't experienced life! I live in The Netherlands, not so different from Germany, although we like to think it is ;-) The Dutch are a bit more relaxed the Germans are more polite (and that's a compliment). We Dutch - and that certainly applies to me as well - have a habit of being too rude.

I think our interests have a big overlap: photography - at one point I was contemplating a career in it - electronics, computers... all the typical geeky stuff I guess ;-)

Not sure if you can access the Youtube channel where I posed the cassette video, but here is a bit more geeky stuff from me: https://lego241.home.blog/2019/05/17/recreating-lego-history/

Yeah I'd like you hyperscope to be able to show Jan here how to repair his because you've done such great detail in repairing the one I sent to you in this thread here.

I read your story and I watched the video and I wished that there was more video of the train with the camera on the front going around the track rather than the just a few seconds that I saw.

There is a reason for only a bit of train-perspective footage. I think you can guess why...

Answer: on most sections the on-board camera not only registers the local track but also what's in the background! So in most shots you get to see the complete set-up with all the lights etc. That would take away the feeling of being immersed in the Lego world. So all the train-perspective footage I could use is where the background allowed me to do so.

The Sony CF-480 I got from e-bay a month or so ago is in very good condition. The cassette mechanism works, FF and RW turn but weak, does not appear to have gummed up with grease to the point nothing works yet. It's just going to need a lot of cleaning, oiling, new belts, clean and wipe of the idler tires with Rubber Renue, Deoxit spray all switches and pots, and recapping. Thankfully not too much to do

But before I do the CF-480 I want to work on the Sony CF-470 and get that finished. Turns out that one is a "sleeper" and some kind of "radio special" unit. Very nice tuning sensitivity and selectivity.
