sony DAT TCD-D8 displays "battery" message while connected to mains

    Hi, I've got a sony TCD-D8 that occasionally when I connect it to mains it displays "battery" message and have to unplug and plug it back to work, sometimes it take two or three attempts to finally work.
    I'm using the genuine ac adapter and there is no batteries in the unit.
    Also I'm looking for a battery older for it as it was bought without one.
