Hi! Recently I've bought DC2 and it doesn't start at all. When I engage PLAY, FF or REW the mechanism runs for 2-3 secs and then stops. I've dissassembled everything and assembled again following steps from SONY DD Series step-by-step repair guide by Marian Mihok but it didn't help. (even I've turned over capstan ring on the other side). I ordered gear replacement kit and a rubber capstan ring today, but do you think it will do the trick? Short video: Cheers EDIT: I've figured out that the FG Coil is defective (measured resistance is infinity; in my second DC2 it's about 700 ohms). CX20084 (IC601) stops motor automatically if it doesn't detect impulses from coil. I connected function generator (20mV pp, sinewave, about 750-850Hz - Sony claims 1kHz in WM-DD3 SM) instead of defective coil and Walkman started working (quartz tap must be unsoldered). So, problem is solved, but now I have to find a good FG Coil.
