I found this WM-FX261 in a local pawn shop for £19.99 at the end of last year. Both the Walkman and case were in good condition. Unfortunately like many Walkmans of this era there was no tape movement. I opened it up and wasn't surprised to find the belt had turn to goo. By the time I had cleaned up all the goo, ordered a new belt and fitted it, it was March and I was £27 in. Anyway I have been using it tonight so not too bad. I have other Walkmans that have been in the "too repair" pile for over a decade. From a design point of view The front is chrome finish making photography difficult I don't know what the point of the cassette window is when it doesn't line up with the ones in pre-recorded cassettes. It might make more sense with the fully transparent Sony cassettes. Anyway proof that it is always worth looking around. I had gone in the shop to look at coins.
I'm finding most original belts are going to that big goo in the sky. It's nearly impossible to find working tape decks anymore but it was a good 40 year run!
