I found out about this mini-stereo years ago when a stand for it came up for sale on ebay and it was silly money, I may have posted it but my memory thinks it was something like $1500.00 USD just for the stand. Since I love mini stereos, the hunt was on but over the years I've found almost nothing on it until a few days ago someone in Japan posted one on Twitter. I decided to do a little searching and found some great information.

Dutch Audio Classics NL has some wonderful photos

Thick chunky front face plates and what looks like old-school crinkle-paint metal cabinets. Marantz went back to their roots squishing those nasty all-in-ones they were forced to make in the late 80's and returning to bragging-rights equipment.

If you scroll through the photos on the website you'll notice the CD player has big feet on the rear, just like an old school Tektronix Oscilloscope, I'm guessing they protect the cords?

The website states a little under £14,000, going by memory I think that dollars would be 1.5-2x that amount. No wonder the stand costs 50,000 yen!

It looks like the big money was for the turntable and CD player and you can see how small the system really is next to the turntable. I had a chance to get a similar TT years ago, I think it was $500 USD but I didn't know if it was Marantz Junk or Marantz of Japan Goodness.

Anybody know of this system or own one?

It looks like the Marantz Star lights up blue when the unit is on. There is a power supply, DPS-1, is that for the system and you need the mono-blocks or is it the low-budget option?

vintage-marantz.com also shows this unit but I don't see the Music Link Branding adn the build doesn't look as heavy-duty as the above models.
