Swatch, Casio Data Bank, Seiko and Other Watches

Tag Heuer Watches were so hot back in the 80's but I don't remember these bright colored ones, probably a bit more expensive than a Swatch. Looking over on ebay, these colored models seem to be somewhat rare.

 

I wonder if L.A. Gear ever got collectable? From 1989

Swatch with the funky fresh ads from 1985, the later 80's were all about fashion and trends. I do not remember these sunglasses, they would have kind of dorky and one of the first. I used to spend the summer days at the beach and I don't remember anybody owning a pair. Remember the watch crystal protector, the red band going over the watch face? Those were a super-hot accessory for your swatch back then.

Another beautiful Swatch Ad from 1986, they really were one of the first companies to jump into the "lifestyle" trend by adding clothing and gear to the line-up. If I had to guess I'd say the California Skateboard Companies really started it a year or two earlier; Vision Skateboards maybe the first with a ton of swag to compliment the skateboard line and "California Lifestyle."

Swatch 1987 with Rodney Mullen of the Bone Brigade, this was right when skateboarding was getting it's third life and was huge! Rodney might have been the first real street skater with killer skills on the flat concrete.
