Consumer Reports 1983 Buying Guide. While CR has a year end buying guide, these reviews are pulled from their monthly issues. I was a huge Sanyo Sportster Fan back then and it's cool seeing them rank so high. I was a broke student that loved skateboarding and anything I had like this didn't live long in my world. I remember they used to be around $42 USD but I'd look for them on sale for closer to $35, still big money back then when minimum wage was $3.35/hr.

Music, movies and gadgets were hitting all eight cylinders, check out the JVC VHS Recorder, plus early press for the Sony D-50. The little Sony FM Radio is a beautiful example of industrial design back when everything was getting an artist's treatment. I'm not sure about the Nike's, it looks like a nylon version?
