The electronics wars of the 70s and 80s were a little different than today, we'd hear about new products still in development and patiently wait until they were released. This little Toshiba TV set is pretty cool, I don't ever remember seeing this before.
Thanks Luis Angel Panches Macias! I've always been a big magazine and newspaper junky and love finding information. When I first started collecting these units years ago there was very little information available, luckily there was some very informed members on the forum that always talked about all of the wonderful units available that as kids we never saw.
The Sony TPS-L2 showing up in Italy August 1980 https://archive.org/details/Selezione_Radio_1980_07_08
Selezione Radio Electronics Issue from 1979, the Sony TC-98L looks impressive, I'll have to keep my eyes open for one.
Selezione Radio 1982, Sony Walkman WM-2 with SQAIR (square?) Speakers. I've never seen the SQAIR Branded Speakers before. It's interesting the article is calling the Walkman a "Sound About" I guess they got the wrong photo.
Very old Hanimex HSP 410 Speaker Information. These guys just started shipping low cost TVs to the US a few years ago, otherwise we've not been exposed to their offerings. These speakers are very nice looking, a departure from the standard square, black with rounded corners that everyone else had.
This might be French only, Continental Edison MC 8031, I have a few of these executive desk tape players, they seem to be really high build quality, like a Walkman but for putting on your desk. March 1982
Piratron P 2298, it looks like a watch radio, I've never seen one before but it's pretty neat. I just found this in Popular Electronics 1982
A nice write up for the Sony M-1000 Stereo Microcassette Player from Popular Electronics March 1982 https://americanradiohistory.com/Popular-Electronics-Guide.htm
