Welcome back! Being new here... I was ignorant of your importance and connection to Stereo2go site! I have come across Walkman-archive site a number of times in my travels. Always an impressive place with great pictures and information. It's a strange world. Many of us are just hanging in there day to day. Best wishes to everyone out there
Thanks Hyperscope and nice to meet you. I'm glad you liked my website, it was the result of sooo many hours of work. I want to continue publishing new stuff soon but first I have to gain access to it as actually I cannot enter the control panel... sigh!
Hi there. Sorry about your life issues but happy that it’s slowly being sorted out. I didn’t realise Walkman archive and this site were related … starting to make sense to me now.
Thanks On the beach! Yes, a few years ago, the man that created this community in the mid 2000s decade informed us that he lost interest in all this and will shut down the site. Everyone was scared and sad but I contacted him to ask if I could save the site, and he transferred it to me. And here I am... It would be a nice complement to my website, indeed.
I am guessing early 2000s was pretty quiet, no one really was into cassettes like now (well even now it’s not big I guess). Is the original guy still around? What happened to him?
Yeah it always astounds me how fanatics who build these awesome sites suddenly lose interest. It has happened over in other hobbies and interests I have too - the site creator just walks away after this amazing labor of love. Maybe they had an epiphany... or got their diagnosis of the Big C. Or maybe they just got way too into it... and their shrink said they had to back off a bit or an institution was in their future
For me it was day my child was born. It was either sleep or update site. And then site get so old that update is hard to do. And my time is much more child oriented now.
i have said before Mr x is about the only one who keeps this place going....he should be given full moderator rights imho
Btw the guy who started this all off was called Paul he ran another place all about boomboxes called pocket calculators or something like that. my memory is failing me though so forgive me if I'm not bang on/////i seem to remember we all went there found out about boomboxes and joined here i joined in 2003 but i seem to remember it all starting around 2000. back then it was all about the love of boxes and not money like it seems to be now
https://www.pocketcalculatorshow.com/walkman/aiwa/ . No idea if it’s the site you were thinking of though.
Hey this site seems to comprise a lot of the old one not all of it though....it even mentions an old moderator jens on there. birth golden age and fall is the same just not all there......been years since i was there a huge thanks my man, rock on fella
I really don't know. I haven't heard from him since them. I'm not sure if I already talked with him, but I'll take your suggestion. Yup, that's him.
Thanks Hugo i think it would be great for Mr x and the forum my friend.........by the way do you still have those superb sony headphones mdr cd3000 you found me a pair but unfortunately mine were stolen grrrrr
Yes, I have them. Sadly, when I was in the other flat it was underground and when I grab it from the bottom of the closet it was full of fungus. OMG!, I have to carefully remove all them from the box and the sponges, but I guess they probably damaged the drivers...
