15. JVC CX-F5 miniature machine with radio and motorized head engagement . belt size: 8/13 or 9/13 center gear seems to have problems: machine creates traffic jam even after new belt is installed.
16. Aiwa HS-J09 common problem: broken center gear. the 4 machines below share the same mechanism. center gear is under huge load when switching the playback direction (fwd, rwd). if the machine jams the tape, the problem is most probably the broken gear (the spring creates tension when removing the gear and jumps off, too).
17. Aiwa HS-J02 Robust, heavy player /recorder, reverse, Radio, separate FM antenna. Not easy to change the belt, but worth it! Caps still ok, Machine just works!
Superb MRN.... Although I am petrified of dissecting my "babies"... I do have a TPS-L2 that needs a new belt....and if a simple solution I may give that a go... Any chance of "dissecttion"?
@funkitall: no experience with TPS-L2 here. you can try google images to find disassembled L2s. good luck (and donĀ“t forget to share .
EEVblog did a teardown on a TPS-L2, great for reference. The service manual is also helpful for disassembly.
Hello, MRN. I see you have Sony WM-EX512 Walkman in your collection. I just bought this player too and would like to change the drive belt in it: I know the guy in Ukraine who produces them (already purchased for my SONY WM-EX674 and it was quite good and rather cheap) but to order from him you need to tell him the specs. Have you ever got to know the dimensions of the one for EX512? Thank you in advance!
Alternatively, you can order one directly from here: https://fixyouraudio.com/product/belt-sony-wm-ex512/ I have ordered several belts in the past, worked out quite well.
