Too bad AO (the old Walkman Section Moderator) isn't still around, he does check in every few years. He used to know all the Sony Transports and what models they were used in, at least as a new collector back then, it seemed that way to me. That would be priceless information on the website, I don't think I've ever seen it published before. Some other things that might be cool is the patent info (Walkman Archaeology Thread), feel free to use whatever I've posted, I'm sure there's more but it takes awhile to look over all of it.

Nice job, those sites always help with the hobby.

I am happy to add more details, however I need to read / browse the service manuals, threads, etc. to do so :)

Mission creep and then a ton of extra hours, I know the drill, I keep getting too many projects myself.

Very similar to what a famous painter used to say not too long ago about trees:
"Now it has some friends. You know, Walkmans need friends too."

Beautiful! The big mystery is why they were so big? I guess at that time it was different in more than one way.

@Emiel I had no idea you had an account on here. I'm Tapefactor on Discord. Amazing site you have.

I just wish it was possible for those of us with accounts (and maybe permission) to update some of the inconsistencies or inaccuracies on the device pages.

Definitely need to see way more Aiwas there but you're doing amazing work at the pace you're currently at and I really appreciate all of the different features like ASCII.

    Thanks for the kind words.
It is just 2 folks uploading all Walkmans and doing the back-end + front-end.
Some parts of the back-end are move developed than others.
Right now we can't unlock a quick and thorough method to easily allow users to contribute.
If you have a list of errors, PM me here on on Discord.
Many parts, like headphones, remotes, motors, heads, are also stored in the database.
It is one of the items we want to 'unlock' this year.

Get me decent pictures that can be freely re-used (or a link to them, like Technostalgism, Boxedwalkman, .. on Instagram) and I'll make it available.
On the shortlist is another one for you, the WA-11. Pictures I have found, now specs :)

I checked the price calculator again and think I have found the issue. Now we need to check if the service we are using can be adapted.

I updated the Yen to USD price calculation method. These are recalculated all at once, triggered by an admin action.
It saves a bit of time during model page loading, as previously it was trying to recalculate once in a week.

    1. We take the price in Yen at time of release,
    2. Convert it to USD using historical data (value at year close: https://www.macrotrends.net/2550/dollar-yen-exchange-rate-historical-chart),
    3. Inflation correct it using historical data to convert from 1979-2006 to now from https://www.statbureau.org/.

Data from the 2 sources I flattened into a local array for faster processing.
Also: 372 models are now available.

Well, I knew I had a model that you didn't have but mine's not a very good example because the digital display window has come out of its place needs to be reglued but to do that you have to unassemble the door because it's that's the way it's designed. But here is a grundig. BB 285

I got this a long time ago in a collection of walkmans. In other words, I was buying one and this came with like eight others or something like that. That's all I can remember.

I'd show you a picture of the back but it just takes two AA batteries and I can't figure out how to get the clip off to show you the back label but here it is anyway

Okay, my quest for this odd one Walkman is over

Will the site have user manuals and services manuals to download at some stage?
Or maybe stereo2go has and area?
