    Anders Trentemøller

I received two mix tapes from a friend in Croatia. One of the two mix tapes featured Anders Trentemøller in his 2010 album release. It's the first I've heard from this artist, but now I want to hear more of his work.

I used the opportunity - during a demo session while trying out the EPI T/E 320 speakers, I bought for $25 CAD from the local thrift store - to play the tape (recorded to a TDK SA90) on my newly-serviced Teac V-7000.

Can anyone work out what it is ?
The standard of manufacturing is exceptional, while the ease of servicing is exceptionally bad.

Don Henley's End of the Innocence. A phenomenal record that holds over time. The cassette is well executed in terms of quality as well.

Elite-ist, love the Pioneer but that pressboard stand is killing me, one sideways move and boom, it all comes down. Those EPIs are really nice looking, I was hoping to score some from my old neighbor but he wanted to hold on to them.

Interesting deck Longman, don't know what has a vertical front with a 1/2 moon radio on the top, did you ever post it all together?

@Mister X: That stand is dwarfed by the big Pioneer SX-1980 receiver, but guess what... even this old stand from the 90's is built better than more modern stands.

Same stand with even more audio components on it:

I believe it but for a little over a hundred loonies you could be rocking a DeWalt Rack and never worry about it falling over! My rack is four shelves x two wide equipment. I used to use a lot of baker's racks but even the design on those scared me, the smart guys were securing the shelves with extra fastners.

After hours of work and a set of JIS screwdrivers, and "Tacky Wax" (good tip from a camera forum) to get the last screw in it is all back together.

Playing a 1972 8 track "The Top of the Poppers Play Simon and Garfunkel's Greatest Hits" in my Boomsphere :wink2 I think that is my curiosity in 8 tracks satisfied for now. Here in the U.K. they had all but disappeared by the end of the 1970s.

RTM. Vaughn William's sym-5 and various. Played on Sony WM-4 ON TDK MAX-90 tape. Have not got a lot of Vaughn Williams. Did not realize he composed 9 symphonies. Have to get some more.

Sinfonia Antartica is probably my favorite and is a long time audiophile favorite, followed by the 4th and 6th. But they are all really special! There a many great sounding recordings but in my opinion, relatively few truly great interpretations. Boult's are probably my favorite. There is a great and somewhat rare performance/recording of the 7th on the Koss Classics label. I transfer the LPs and CD's to either MA-R, MA-X, Sony XR. I'll upload pictures later of my machines. (Restorations are what I do in my retirement.)

RTM. I will certainly have to get more of Vaughn Williams especially his symphonies. I only have sym-2 and 5 so would love to listen to the others. Have to look on the Bay. I think you must have some nice equipment. Glad that you are able to do restorations. Look forward to seeing your equipment. Thanks for reply.

Mendelssohn Sym-4 and 5 played through a Sony EX-194 on type 2 tape. Charity shop find but in good condition, works well and sounds quite good.
