Hello, I’ve been taking apart my D6 to replace the potted modules and found this cracked gear underneath where that circular magnet sits, I’m assuming for the quartz timing. Is this a detrimental crack? Should I try and fix or try to source another gear? My wow and flutter without changing the original rubber on this deck was surprisingly good, about 0.07, so I don’t know if it’s an issue or not. -Thank you for your time, Rocco (Small side note, if anyone knows a source for those little jumping nylon washers that would be great)
Sorry I can't help you but maybe you can find the washer over on McMaster Carr https://www.mcmaster.com/products/washers/?s=nylon+washers
@Rocco Gillespie Can't really tell from the pic, but if the gear is cracked all the way from the middle to the teeth it must be replaced. If the crack is just in the middle, you can glue it to the shaft instead. For doing this, add glue inside the gear hole while pushing the shaft/reel assy (not the other way round cause glue will get in the bushing). It is necessary to adress this problem because even if it's cracked just in the middle the reel will tend to work its way out (up). Will also render reduced REW torque.
