Wondering what this is...

    Hello! I recently went into an abandoned oyster factory that is being demolished to try and recover some art I had heard about being within one of the rooms. I successfully found said room, and stumbled across a tape format I had never seen before! The tape is very large, and has some japanese text on it. The english text says it's a Victor Video Cassette KCA 30, however upon searching it up, I have found no results. I think it might be a U-Matic tape, but I was wondering if anyone had any more information on it, such as any players I could find online to try and digitize it.

    I was going to suggest it was a publicity film about Oyster processing.
    However, Google translate is showing me

    "Unravelling - Behind the scenes of women" which sounds far more interesting :redface

    U-Matic was widely used in industry so I'm sure there are plenty of places that will do digital transfer if you are willing to risk it.
    A quick eBay search showed a place here for that will do transfers for £30.

    Now we have to see it, I know barely anything about the format, just another helical scan media with better resolution than VHS. There's probably piles of playing decks out there, industrial quality, but unless you have room, very few consumer collectors. 8-bit Guy had a small blurb years ago and he had a "IRS" Tape not knowing it was from the famous indy music group label, another tape I'd love to see what's on it.

    In case you don't know Casey cat, Victor is the name JVC used back in Japan and for a brief time they also used Niveco but "JVC" became the dominate name in the 80's.
