Thanks for sharing this. Having bought a reproduction boombox with probably the same cassette mechanism inside it as these portable stereos I have to conclude they are not close to anything like a DD Walkman in performance. The boombox which is styled on an iconic Sharp GF9191 from 1978 sounds terrible. Although the cassette player is acceptable the audio performance is not. I've now relented and bought a fully restored Sharp GF9191 H which is in transit. I don't think I'll be buying any of these new cassette players.
