Just another example of the forum being abused to boost a sale and has no relevance to actual collectors or enthusiasts.

the caveman approach (look at the variety of his topics). however annoying, it is actually preferable to the subtle one, ie. when somebody pretends to be a collector/enthusiast, only to flood the forum with ebay sales. not even offering more reasonable prices to members

I guess its more acceptable to some more than others. This forum should expect better however. Seems like he stayed a day or so...
Let's put it this way, it happens more often than it used to do...

Agreed, frustrating for many of us.
driptip - 2013-03-26 19:03
new members dont know that we have a section specially for ebay sales.
its a shame.

All points taken on board but we either let members (new or old) post links to auctions or sales (inc 'make me an offer') or we don't. 'Don't' will mean that long-term 'trusted' members can't advertise their boxes at all. 'Do' means we get to see everything that gets thrown on our doorstep and we are then left to decide. I know which I'd choose. I know some join up just for the purpose of 'outing' their sales/auctions or just hoping that someone here will make them an attractive offer but nobody's forcing our hands, we're not being robbed. We all know there's a lot of bad sellers out there but ultimately at the end of the day it's up to us to decide, based on the facts we have, what we do with our money.
So, yeah, some of these noobs are clearly trying to get what they can from this community but I say let em'. The one's I don't like are the lazy ones who simply log in to paste an ebay link and run off with no intention of returning. Not sure what the story is with the above guy but he hasn't really thought this through, he forgot that he has to return to solicit any feedback, very odd.
One thought is to have a minimum post count before sales listings can be made.
Thoughts?

I agree, there definitely should be a minimum post count implemented before one could sell in this forum.

agree with retro.........the other site has this format

I went on Boomboxery once and they have a restriction before you can access the 'for sale' section too!
Does that lead to a new member banging on endlessly about a particular subject until they qualify? I don't know.
What gets my goat is when established members produce a 'find', do lots of lovely photo's and even tell you the price they paid for it; get loads of compliments and admiration for it, and then a few days later ask what it is worth on a new thread and then put the ebay details up. I know it's not just me that feels this way and while there would seem to be nothing 'in the rules' to prevent it, it feels like an abuse of the site.

Don't see anything wrong with genuine members of this site who are here because they love boxes discussing values and selling either here or through eBay. Don't see a problem with posting 'finds' then later selling them as thats what often happens in real life; you find a box in the wild, are really pleased with it so post it, then you realise that you've actually got better boxes so sell it...nothing wrong with that imo (I just keep them myself as I'm generally too lazy to sell them!)
The only ones who I find irritating are the ones who join, post a box for sale, or ask the value, then bugger off...people who think we're a cheap ebay or a free valuation service. The minimum post count seems to largely sort this on t'other site Tho it doesn't bother me that much really

there has been more grief from sales on here kicking off /smashed up on arrival and so on than there has been with new members selling. having to have a required amount of posts to sell is a good idea but can lead to senseless posting and dragging up pointless threads .

I have to agre in principal with Northerner....but Del does have a point. Needless posts choke up the site and poor courier service chews my a$$ more than anything!!!

I want to share the experience i had with this newbie.
Now i m not the person to say anything bad and such for other people
but decided to share it for reasons of other members to be alerted
and warned for such behaviors.
So, when i saw this post i got in contact with Joey saying to him that
i m interested into buying it .
I saw all the videos he made on youtube etc and
thought i d made him an offer for over 400 eur .
He told me that he would list it at his ebay account for a buy it now
at the amount we agreed for both sides to be safe and we had a deal !
The next day i contacted him again only this time he said to me ]
that he had a better offer and didnt want to sell it via ebay !!!
I immediatly told him that '' i thought we had adeal''
and i got in responce that he agreed to sell me for the amount we had a deal
only outsiDe of ebay.
I even said ok to that !!
Still waiting his response to send me an invoice via paypal ...
They guy disappeared in an instant..
So irritating ..
