The M50 debate

bison - 2012-01-05 15:41

he pecked my head then blanked me..obviously because my offer wasnt good enough

isolator42 - 2012-01-06 00:35

...and the door of opportunity closes to James, having been held open for much longer than some thought neccessary. He was given every opportunity & plenty of time to do the right thing.

Considering he has many boomers to sell, I'd say that wasn't a wise decision.

Eric would've been happy with a gesture of goodwill (no demands for a full refund here). He would've happily told us all that the ending was good & James could've then continued selling via s2g & build a reputation that may have even got him reinstated on Boomboxery (issuing demands really wasn't the way to do that).

ah well, life goes on.

...& don't you just hate it when Ira is right ?!

redbenjoe - 2012-01-06 05:07

well paul -

could have // should have been a 'happy ending' ..

especially for eric -

but ....

screwing members is all to predictable by this seller-

----------------

in the future --in case anyone is considering buying his items

(AT THOSE HUGE $$$ PRICES )--

just ask me FIRST -

i think i can post up a 'screw-proof' set of

buyer-beware steps

blufuz - 2012-01-06 07:15

Check classifieds for a Stretch "refund" fundraiser. Killer deals on JVC straps, all PROFIT goes to Stretch on available straps.

redbenjoe - 2012-01-06 08:16

kind idea, joe

stretch - 2012-01-06 09:46

Ah geeze you guys, you're going to make me turn diabetic with all of your sweetness

All I can say is that i appreciate the support of this community immensly. The way you all banded together to sort things out, here and in other threads for other situations, it is simply the way that it should be. Take care of each member as you never know when you'll need their help one day.

I never asked James for a refund, or partial, or anything, although isolator42 is right, I would have been definitely happy with any offer of goodwill. I would have told you guys and this whole thing would have wrapped up better as I never meant to get James Banned from this forum too.

Ah well, this will become just part of the forum's code locked away in a database in a few months, but I still thank you all for being such good guys through the whole thing.

eric

driptip - 2012-01-06 09:55

too bad this had to happen,

James really messed up this time not taking care of this situation.

redbenjoe - 2012-01-06 12:46

hey eric --you did NOTHING to help get him banned -

in fact --you are our next Frank Sinatra = COOL as one can ever be

twas prolly more my posts than anybody esle -

--but the real truth is --

that he banned himself

------------------------

anyway --not to worry --

surely all the dm4u fans will see him daily and forever-

on both sites -

and with new//fake names ..

just wait

eric - 2012-01-06 14:40

Stretch,

I'm not a big poster on this forum, but I do think the way you handled yourself compared to how James handled the situation, shows what type of guy you are and what type of person James is.  For him not to respond (to you in private) and claim he was waiting for you to contact him as a reason (which you originally did with the issue) is totally disrespectful to you and to the members of this forum.  I can remember when he was originally banned.  I believe it was justified then and I believe it to be justified now.  It's good to give people another chance to rectify past mistakes, we all make them, but I think this shows James has not learned to be a good member of the community.  You on the other hand have shown patience calmness and understanding, which I believe we all could use a little more of around the forums.  If the other party involved had those virtues, this would have been solved.  Happy M50 hunting, keep looking because things usually happen for a reason.

Eric

radio.raheem - 2012-01-07 19:30

This is a sad day....i REALY hoped matters could have been resolved here....but james had plenty time to resolve them.....i realy don't understand his demands to want to go back on boomboxery, after our discussion a few months ago

detroit.scott - 2012-01-12 07:29

Awwwww man, I thought I deserved the frank award. I hunted james down, watched and planned my attack and then slayed him,  while still getting him to send my radio! That's cool as heck and I never dropped any F-bombs. Hahahahaha. Man what a stroke of luck. Btw this boomer is so darn loud it's hard to believe it's almost 30 yes old. I think I overpaid but I love the box. Has anybody any good websites I could get new woofers if I wanted to? Thx guys

chris69 - 2012-01-12 09:09

When i sell a boombox or any type of vintage electronics for that matter.... i sell it AS-IS. The buyer has the option to take the risk of buying it or not but that is HIS choice and i never force anything down anyones throat.... ever. When i buy a boombox or any vintage electronics of any type for myself...I ASSUME ALL THE RISKS and i never wine, bitch or complain about it because it was my option to buy or not buy and it was up to ME TO ASK ALL QUESTIONS "BEFORE" i bought it or bid....
Most sellers don't take radios ect apart before selling them and we need to accept that fact. We also need to accept the fact that these boombox radios are usually 20-30 years old and god know who played around inside them and tried to modify or repair them. That's a risk we all take and need to accept regardless if we like it or not....it's life.

The only times i will ever be pissed off at the seller is:

(A) He/She (the seller) did not describe the exterior physical condition correctly. EX: If he said it was in excellent physical (visible) condition and it was in poor condition with scratches ect and he did not describe it as such.

(B) He/She (the seller) did a poor job of packing and the radio or boombox was damaged due to his/her poor packing.

I never expect a seller to take a radio apart and start checking the speakers ect. That would be a little extreme to say the least. I would not want a seller to take it apart at all and if i know that the seller did so...i would never buy it in the first place.

Just my 2 cents worth...

Anyway, I'm talking about this because I was unable to get a reply in to all of the comments made (since I was asleep), and then it got out of hand and the thread had to be closed.

So, Here's just a reply to some of the things mentionned in that thread, and hopefully it helps us become better members through it.

With regards to what I did/didn't do, telling James first before posting etc:

I did: contact James right away as soon as I noticed the box had a tweeter drooping, telling him I was going to go inside and figure it out. He replied in 9 minutes according to Hotmail.

I did then contact james, with picture right away showing: the damage, pointing out areas in particular. He never replied to that email.

I had orginally made a YAY! thread on Boomboxery about this second M50, but turned it into a lesson thread, as I stated in my post there.

I did not post the issues/bad findings in that thread until 8:07pm, almost an hour after I sent the last email to James which was at 7:19pm. Given that he was 'curious for you to open this up an tell me just what happened here, and that he had swiftly emailed me back after the first email, it seemed correct that waiting an hour for a reply before posting my finding in my happy thread was just.

**It must be said tho that James was notified immediately to the issues. He still has my phone number, and email, and could contact me privately, but has done none of the above.**

I am not demanding anything nor have I demanded anything to be honest. You guys know me a bit on here, but what you don't know if I am fairly passive when it comes to asking for retribution etc. and in my final email, I closed with:

"Ah well, what can I do.
Check out the pics."

I have left it up to James to decide if he wants to do anything about it.

In all honesty, all I wanted was a good condition M50 with non-cracked back, the bonus being those beautiful blue speakers I thought to be original blue not painted, as in conversation with james I even made mention of people colouring their speakers and asked if these were to which he said no.

So, I got an expensive parts box and an expensive lesson. But, a lesson, paid for in cash or time or otherwise, is still a lesson learned, and I plan to use my knowledge to become a more savy buyer and better member.

It will take him years to redo the videos and he will need a different place and everyone going to recognize his voice, even if he doesn't show himseft in the video. It be much better and people will have more respect if he just fixes the issues, apologies and move on, it never to late !!

He might do the fake names, as far as youtube goes, he history, it much bigger then any forum as millions goes on their, granted most people that are interested in boomboxes and walkman's are here, or tapeheads.net, so their goes most of his sales.

I actually feel sorry for him, he seem to be a extreme selfish individual, which is a serious case of "OCR", his videos and comments proved that. He need to seek professional help and quickly!!

matrimonial I have nothing against him but sometimes annoying the man just on facebook, funny will never show his face, but always prove that he has more than the boom box, the other deals with the nuts :-( hardly what I posted what he has to post something twice as good or is more so is a poser
