At last I managed to get my hands on a Sony WM-701T. For me, this is the holy grail of Walkmans. So I paid 3000 dollars for it. Maybe I paid way over the odds, but for me it was worth it. This one is in wonderful condition, but the belt requires replacing. When I get a chance, I'll post some pictures.

That's the one I purchased. The asking price was over 4000 dollars. I managed to get it for 3000. It is in lovely condition. And even has the outer cardboard box. The last one that sold went for 1200, but was in a really bad state. So I think mine was worth the high price.
Haha no wonder you were crapping yourself over import duty and tax.
I didn't pay any tax in the end. Import duty on that purchase would have been huge.
