Toshiba KT-RS1 boxed, NOS

I've recently acquired this amazing recorder. It's completely new. It's the same model as the AS1 with recording function. Although the features are higher, the box is clearly not as fancy as the AS1.
And here's the recorder:
The upper side:
the back. curiously, there is placed the autoreverse switch:
It has a radio module. Here you can see it inserted:
And, as it is a recorder, it features a mic in as well as a small stereo mic:
Enjoy it

Ahhh, that's sweet. I've never been a lover of Toshiba's FF/RW system but that doesn't detract from this being a truly superb package.

I see a rusty screw

Yeah, that's a very nice player. I like it a lot. The black matte finish is very attractive. and like you, I'm not a fan at all of those FF/REW buttons.
Curiously, this external mic has a second pin beside the 3.5 jack that fits in a small hole. I'm not sure for what it is, but it does not fit in any other recorder of other brand... Could it be a 'phantom' power for mics?

It could be...

Excellent find Hugo. And a wonderful cosmetically designed player IMO. I have a complete unit also. The microphone extra pin is a positioning pin to lock the mic in place from swiveling causing a change in the stereo image. Agreed the FF/Rew mechanism on these is fraught with failure ie: open door and cog wheel fly off

Here is a very hard to find little known Toshiba accessory a twin speaker add on. NOTE it also has the short small locator pin that fits in second HP jack to keep speaker in place and not able to turn. Of interest he pin is SPRING LOADED so that this speaker can be used on other Walkman. Most of my other toshiba's are boxed away but am certain that this speaker fits several models perfectly as this one does on the KT-VS1 shown in photos. It is Toshiba Model # SS-W1.
TOSHIBA SS-W1 on KT-VS1

BTW this is a passive speaker no battery inside. Hugo I tried it on the RS1 it does not fit well as locking pin is on wrong side for speaker to face forward and have pin in recording hole. It will fit on facing rearward but it is Off centered about half inch.

That's a very nice accesory. Why didn't Sony made that? Is it patented?

JohnEdward, it never ceases to amaze me just how many little gems you have. True collector incarnate , same for Hugo, of course. Thanks for sharing all the photos are great. I've rarely seen a Reel to Reel cassette look better than in the KT-RS1.

Yes, these old gadgets get their screws rusty even if they are stored in box :-(

Thanks John,
Yeah, I agree, it's wonderfully designed indeed. And very nice matte black finish IMHO.
I didn't know that VS1 (that I guess is the predecessor of the AS1) or that accessory, but I have one similar: the KT-CS1. Here's the box:
the contents:
The RT-CS1, actually the same as the KT-AS1:
Here is my KT-AS1:
which I have also in red:
and also have the box, which I like a lot (I have one for sell at eBay and in the 'for sell' section of this forum):

Thanks Nak! I'm proud to be compared to John, which has one of the world's biggest collection -if not the biggest one-. He really has every little gem we only have seen in catalogs at most.
Keep it up ;-)

John, I believe you own the tuner pack RP-AF3! Doesnt that belong to the above boxed RT-CS1?

HUGO:

I believe the KT-VS1 is a Japanese release only version which might explain why the add on stereo speaker is pretty unheard of. Toshiba's for most part have amazing low serial numbers just seems they did not make many. Often under 5000 even 1000 on most of my models. For example my RT-CS1 has serial number #0000562
The KT-CS1 is a grand MINI mini... love the detachables and having the FM tuner cassette. Your boxed one is only one of three I have ever seen in 6 years and yours is MINT. I have one but just the boombox.

Yes I have the RP-AF3 and that is the correct one for the RT-CS1.
Here is a link to a old topic of mine on my TOSHIBA collection. Have group photos of the TUNER MODULES for the Toshiba line ( 8 in all). Have added more Toshiba's not in that post.

Owner manual states the RP-AF3 for the RT-CS1

I have 2 kt-as1 also!, and with both the little reels inside the walkman flew off!

ok, both RS1 and CS1 are for sell now. I'll put them in the 'for sell' section soon.
