I originally posted in the "Boombox" forum bc I wasn't paying attention.:(
Hopefully, I haven't breached any rules by re-posting here.

"Hello to all, new member here.

I am in need of a tech person willing to take on my JVC portable listed in the title.

I bought this new in my teen years, and while I can do some repairs on home audio gear, this is outta my wheelhouse for a number of reasons including, but not limited to, a lack of appropriately sized tools and know/how! lol

The unit does power on, motor(s)? turn, but there is no movement in the mechanism. The FM radio pack works like new and even the vinyl case is in good nick! Alas, the original headphones are long gone.

I am located in NY, and as much as I would love to have Valentin, who did an excellent overhaul in ‘21 on another CQ-1K, work on mine, I fear shipping to & fro Romania would be costly.

    Thanks for reading!"

About the other threads, I suggest to report them asking the admin to delete because you posted twice.
See there are 2 threads in the walkman section, so I suggest reporting both this one (https://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/jvc-cq-f2k-repair.9319/) and the one in boombox section.

As for the models, the CQ-F2K is very similar to the CQ-1K, so you can simply edit the title and include both model numbers.
There's also a CX-F2K (which is much simpler to repair), but I guess that's not he one you're reffering to as I didn't do any repair guide for that one.

In regard to the repair, depending on your repair skills I would suggest to try repair it yourself.
However it is a pretty involved repair, requiring: full recap, takeup reel gear repair, new belt among other more minor things.
I can guide you through the repair and update the original thread with more info if necessary.

As for sending the unit to me, that is entirely up to you if it's worth doing so. Shipping to me and back will definetely add up, feel free to send a private message if you want some estimations.
