Blue walkmans
walkman.archive - 2012-07-07 03:09
Hi members,
This time I want to show you my blue walkmans. Continuing with the color series (previously seen white, red and golden), now I think is time for blue ;-)
So I digg in my collection and found up to 14 different walkmans of this my favorite color. Here they are:
I placed them starting with AIWA, then SONY, Kenwood, Panasonic and SANYO. I tried to sort them chronologically.
So first is the AIWA HS-F7, the flagship model in 1984. It's very similar to the BTTF one:
Then it comes the P08, which is the same as the G08 but without EQ. I have this model analyzed in my website (www.thewalkmanarchive.com):
Then, the first SONY: the TPS-L2:
That I have also analyzed in my website. Then comes the ultra-rare blue DD:
And my loved WM-B39, which is not a legendary model at all, but it was one of my first walkmans, back in '89 and it brings me a lot of memories:
Well, this blue is not exactly then one I have had, but it's the same model. Then comes the superb DD33 in blue color, very rare to find:
And the WM-509, one of the smallest and stylish walkmans:
After this it comes the rare WM-550C in blue color:
With amorphous head and dolby C.
Then, one of the rarest of all, the WE01, with wireless earphones and wireless remote:
then the small recorder, RX707:
The last SONY is the WM-EX9, with a special paint than can change its color depending on the direction you look at it:
And now we leave SONY and go to Kenwood's rare and curious Q5:
The Panasonic RQ-S95, with wireless remote:
And the last one is the ultra rare Sanyo ES-P7:
And here you can see them again together:
hope you enjoy.
Please share your blue walkmans too!
PS: Sorry that some photos are a bit blurred but I had to take them quickly and with low light, without tripod (not enough time for do it )

HUGO want to thank you for starting these "COLOR" Walkman topics. And for inviting the members to show off their colors and adding them to this topic. GLORIOUS IS THE COLOR BLUE. I think next to Black and shades of Silver or Grey that BLUE is the most common color in Walkman. So many shades and finishes from solid color to some awesome metallic examples.
NOTE: Many of these Walkman give a totally different appearance and even hue depending on bright sunlight or indoor with camera flash. Thus many of my Walkman photos include Outside and Inside with flash to show additional color the eye sees in these wonderful mystical BLUE Walkman. ENJOY
Here we have AKAI, AIWA, FELLOW, KENWOOD, PANASONIC ( loved blue ), SONY and
UNIVERSUM.
AIWA EX200MkII
AKAI PM-10BF Interesting Walkman a special promotional Walkman given away or sold at Formula 1 racing tracks to promote the Benetton Formula 1 racing car. Here is a great topic link to many members "Promotional Walkman".

KENWOOD CP-V5 A stunning blue metallic with a wonderful "window" design.
BUT I MUST ASK MEMBERS :::::::: Can anyone explain how a cassette Walkman can be "ANTI VIRUS" or how a Walkman gets a VIRUS ????????? Anyone else have a "Anti Virus" Walkman ?
FELLOW FE-1 Here we have a very early 80/81 "Westman" ( Original model/design) clone example. I have 8 of these clones all based off same mechanism made by different mfg. The Grundig Beat Boy 100 is based on this mechanism. There is a topic on this by Autoreverser.
PANASONIC RQ-SX5
PANASONIC SX10
PANASONIC SX43 the "snowflake" stickers must have been put on by female first owner.
PANASONIC SX52
PANASONIC SX70R Blue/grey
PANASONIC SX91
PANASONIC SX99F

PANASONIC RQ-S25
PANASONIC S40
PANASONIC S60
PANASONIC S75
SONY TPS-L2
SONY M-80
SONY WM-55
SONY WM-EX40ST
SONY WM-EX9 To me this is the most beautiful colored Walkman. It has color changing chameleon metallic paint that changes colors completely to 9 different colors.
See my topic on this player to enjoy this one of a kind player. Sony's last hurah as this I believe was the last high quality player mfg. in Japan in 2001/2002.

SONY WE-01 As Hugo said this is one of the rarest of Walkman with wireless REMOTE and HEADPHONES. This was mfg. in 1999 as a 20th Anniversary model I believe ONLY SOLD IN JAPAN. The WM-EX20 was the 20th Anniversary model released Worldwide.
UNIVERSUM CP-1871 A embarrassing fine example of the "Cheap Walkman" but amazing enough it still works perfectly.

You lose the bet. Hurodal has the pastel green AIWA RX50. I have a racing green PL50.

wow, what a massive response in just one day! I thought wether all you guys found color series boring now, didn't see the post or didn't have time to reply, but anyway I'm happy to see the response.
John, thank you so much for adding your impressive blue series of walkmans. Definitely you have one of the greatest collection of walkmans ever seen!
I'll add a few notes.
Regarding the SONY WE-01, this is for sure, one of the most stylish walkmans ever made. I find it's design to be excellent and clean. I also have the remote and wireless earphones, with the charger too. And fully working!
I forget to add one last blue walkman in my collection: the rare Kenwood CP-K7 in blue. Another Kenwood with their "different" design:
This K7, as many (if not all) the "7" series of Kenwood has dolby C.
Talking about Kenwood, one of the rarest models is for sure that super-strange "Antivirus" V5. I also have one of this:
It's definitely one of the most freaky walkmans... And I have not idea of what's that 'Antivirus' feature, but I can only imagine that is some kind of coating that prevents virus and bacterias, commonly found in every device that people hold on their hands. Studies have discovered that telephones and keyboards have 500 times more bacterias than a W.C., so you can imagine...
BTW, I didn't ever know about that S60. I have two S80 but never had seen an S60
I'll add my greens walkmans soon (I wait until another green unit arrives very soon).
And I want to finish this with my AIWA F7 & P7 colour series, which I believe is probably one of the most complete colour series ever seen:
From upper left corner to bottom right corner, you can see a Yellow F7, a anodized red P7, anodized dark grey F07 (recently serviced, that sounds GREAT), blue F7 (not anodized), anodized green P7, golden F7, silver P7 and mild green P7. I think that what you can see here is the complete collection!
C'mon guys. Add yours!

I'll join Hugo's thread with my own little blue box...Many here have seen this before...
My Sony WM-101
walkman.archive - 2012-07-22 12:33
I remember that beautiful WM-101, brutus, but it's nice that you add it. I think it may have the same tone than my WM-20, don't you think?
brutus442 - 2012-07-22 14:19

Hard to tell Hugo, your model seems more "blue" where as the 101 seems almost "aqua-marine"
But then again you photography of that stellar WM-20 runs circles around mine
walkman.archive - 2012-07-23 03:07
Well, hard to tell, Brutus. If I could some day get one like yours, I'll tell ;-)
Your blue 101 is definitely very beautiful indeed!
Thanks for the compliments!

By the way, I made a small fake in the photo of the eight colourful AIWAs F07/P07. there's one of them that really doesn't exist. AIWA never released that colour.
Can you tell which one is it? ;-)
(yeah, I know I'm bad for doing those fake, but I always tell of them sooner or later )
bub - 2012-08-15 03:52
Guessing the Turquoise one. Bottom left.
walkman.archive - 2012-08-16 00:46
Well done, bub! That's it. There was never a green aluminum F07 or P07. I made it by taking the red one, shooting it bottom left (using tripod) and change its color ;-)
bub - 2012-08-16 02:30
The oversaturation and dolby logo gave it away. It is a very nice collection however.

bub, you look so well! you are an excellent observer.
I'm so happy to have this collection, as this P07/F07 is a milestone walkman, at least IMHO.
buzbox - 2016-01-06 02:58
Sorry to bring up an old thread but just curious if anyone here owns a blue WM40? Seems like an even rarer Walkman. Seen plenty of silver ones but the others are quite rare especially the blue one.
brutus442 - 2016-01-07 12:47
I don't recall ever seeing a blue WM40, buzbox but then again I can't remember what I had for dinner last night

Hahaha nice. I see them on the old advertisements when googling pics but that's it. Strange.

Here's my blue F30 and WM 30 (with my own repro plastic window).
